Hi,
I'm Jean. I live in Germantown, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee.
I have been weaving for 17 years.
All of the baskets you see on this site are made by me. They are made out of splint reed/rattan. The reed starts out almost white. I dye the colors, make the basket, and stain with a natural walnut water based stain. I am self taught so my style is not influenced by other weavers. The stain technique I have developed gives the baskets the look of an antique oak or ash basket. |

Many of the baskets are my own
designs. Some are common styles which are longer, shorter, bigger,
or smaller than normal. I use oak or hickory handles on some baskets.
Others have reed handles that have been woven back up into the
basket for added strength and then wrapped with reed. The rims
are double lashed.
Until now my baskets were available only at exclusive art shows in the Midwest. Now they are available on this website. If the basket you wish to purchase is already sold I will make one like it and email a photo of the basket to you prior to delivery. I want you to see the basket you are buying,, just like at an art fair, only in your home. A lot of the photos were taken outdoors, the baskets are mainly for indoor use.
